Last year’s pARTners for Change event raised about $6,000.Future Visual Arts students at Brock will benefit from an art auction on Friday. The Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts and the Ontario Public Interest Research Group (OPIRG) Brock are hosting pARTners for Change, a one-night fundraiser that benefits student Visual Arts scholarships at Brock. The event will showcase art from Brock students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community, said Keri Cronin, associate professor and chair of Visual Arts. The auction is great way to get impressive art for a relatively low price.“People can expect to see great art, great artists and a good night out,” she said. “It’s a great community-building event.”The event also benefits programs offered through OPIRG’s InfoShop in downtown St. Catharines. This is the second year Brock and OPIRG have partnered on the event, Cronin said.Available work will include paintings, drawings and photographs. Last year, it raised $6,000.“I’d love to top that, but really, every dollar raised goes a long way toward students and community support,” she said. The auction will be Friday, Dec. 2 from 8 to 10 p.m. at Rise Above restaurant and bakery at 120 St. Paul St., St. Catharines. The art is currently available for preview at Rise Above.
